The Community e-Centre (CeC) Project aims to enable and empower the least connected small island communities of Maldives with access and ability to benefit from computing and Internet technology.

This project is part of the Empowering Rural Communities – “Reaching the unreached” initiative, funded by the SAARC Development Fund, and includes similar ICT enabled community centre establishment projects in Bangladesh, Bhutan and Nepal.

This project aims to establish Community e-Centres (CeCs) in the least connected 50 island communities, distributed evenly across the Maldives.  These CeCs will be equipped with ICT based resources and services such as computer equipment, internet connectivity, scanner and printer. The CeCs will be available to all community members with a basic set of free of charge services and some value added services.
