Government e-Letter Management System Launched by the President

The launching ceremony for the Government e-Letter Management System was held today at the President’s Office. The system was officially launched by the President, His Excellency Mr. Mohamed Nasheed. The ceremony was attended by Ministers and senior staffs of the President’s Office as well as the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Communication.

  

During the ceremony, President highlighted that the system was expected to make government administration more efficient, reduce costs, and improve the delivery of services. He also mentioned that the system would help to reduce the huge amount of costs spent on stationary items by the Government.

  

The system will enable government offices to exchange communications electronically and will also further improve the credibility, transparency and monitoring of the government bureaucracy. The system will be initially started in government institutions based in Malé and the Southern Province Office.

  

During the ceremony the Deputy Minister for Civil Aviation and Communications also spoke about the benefits of using such a system and the need to share resources among Government Agencies in order to facilitate the rollout of this system and other such systems to all the islands in the Maldives .

  

A brief presentation on the benefits and use of the system was presented by the Chief Executive of the National Centre for Information Technology, Mr. Faaig Umar.
