Out of 20 atoll capitals that are to be connected to the Government Network of Maldives (GNM), fiber infrastructure installation works of 17 atoll capitals have been completed. These are:

• N. Manadhoo
• R. Ugoofaaru
• B. Eydhafushi
• Lh. Naifaru
• K. Thulusdhoo
• AA. Rasdhoo
• V. Felidhoo
• F. Nilandhoo
• M. Muli
• Dh. Kudahuvadhoo
• Th. Veymandoo
• L. Fonadhoo
• GA. Villigili
• GDh.Thinadhoo

As of 25th April 2007 fiber infrastructure installation work of ADh. Mahibadhoo, Gn.Fuvahmulah and S. Hithadhoo are in progress and expected to be completed in the near future.

Once the networks on these islands are completed they will be connected to Male’ by Satellite allowing  Government Offices, Schools, Hospital etc. in the Atoll Capitals and  Government and parastatal agencies in Male’ to communicate electronically and providing access to e-Government Service Platform and portals that are currently being developed.
